How can I ensure security in an AVEVA PI deployment?

Key steps include using robust access controls like Windows authentication to limit user permissions. It is crucial to segment the network with firewalls and encrypt communications between all PI System components. These measures collectively minimize the attack surface and protect critical data.
How can I keep my PI System up to date?
Keeping your AVEVA PI System up to date is a crucial security practice. The best way to do this is to consistently apply all patches and security updates to both the PI System components and the underlying operating system. It’s also important to upgrade to the latest versions of the PI Data Archive and PI AF, as they often include new security features and bug fixes. By doing this, you can take advantage of modern authentication methods like OpenID Connect (OIDC) and secure communication protocols, while also moving away from older, less secure options.
How much does it cost to create a PI Vision display?
PI Vision displays need to be designed, drafted, evaluated by the end user and adjusted, in a process that can take from 12 to 24 hours by a specialist PI Vision designer. For a bulk of new PI Vision displays to be created an average of 16 hours of effort is reasonable. The cost varies depending on the rate of the specialist.
